Everyone wants to look great in their clothes, but not everyone knows all of the tricks to employ to pick out the right fit, cut and style.

One of these tricks has to do with pant length.  So many of us grab pants that fit us width wise and never give a second thought to the length.  If we want to look tall and nicely proportioned all over, it's a great idea to give attention to the hemline.

When trying on pants, stand up straight and tall with your shoes on.  Allow the pant leg to fall naturally, and observe where the bottom of the hem falls in relation to the shoe.  The hemline of the pants should reach all the way to the top of the shoe's sole.
This is where the body of the shoe actually meets the sole of the shoe, so your pant leg will basically extend over the top of the shoe.  This method is easy to follow, and it is generally a good rule of thumb to follow for men who typically wear the same type of shoe on a daily basis.  Jeans with sneakers versus dress pants with loafers may require differing lengths, so that's something to take into consideration when shopping.
Women may actually wish to buy different length pants to suit varying heights of shoes.  If wearing flats or a thick heel, the above method works great.   For a spike heel, follow a similar approach and bring the hemline  down the entire length of the heel but before touching the ground.  The combination of heel height and pant length will make you look tall and gorgeous!
