Ah, beauty!  Fashion!  We love it, we need it, we have to have it - even if it means pain.  It's been this way for thousands of years.  Often we are shocked at the images photographed two hundred years ago when women and men alike would mold their bodies by strapping on corsets.  They whittled their waists down to seemingly unnatural porportions and caused problems such as malformation, shortness of breath, dizziness and fainting spells.  Years later when we looked at those ancient torture devices, we could not believe any human beings willingly wore those horrible contraptions, but what would they say if they saw the things we do today in the name of fashion?
Nowadays we may scoff at vulgar antiquities such as a corset, but we ignore the fact that we sometimes work just as hard huffing and puffing to fit into our clothes as our ancestors did to fit into their corsets.  We starve ourselves of food to fit into the latest fashion.  We pluck, scrape and pull to remove unwanted hairs.  We pour chemicals on our heads, tear apart our muscles and build them back up again with sweat and fatigue to recreate an ideal body.  We cram, stuff, pull and pinch our flesh just to fit the mold of a skirt or pair of pants hanging on a hanger.
Although we gasp when we see the evidence of ancient Chinese foot binding practices and cannot believe what women did for the sake of creating a tiny foot and fitting into abnormally tiny shoes, we stuff our bunions, corns and calluses back into our stilettos and teeter down the road as if it is the most normal thing in the world.

This is the stuff of beauty and fashion, but must beauty be so painful?  Is it simply the allure of the unattainable that makes us long for it?  Who knows, but it's time for us all to realize that fashion does not have to be pain.  Our bodies are uniquely different, and one size simply does not fit all.  We don't have to be pinched and uncomfortable anymore.  We can be beautiful in our own skin - draped in something beautiful that fits properly.  We have more options available to us than ever before.  A local tailor or seamstress can make easy adjustments to make a perfect fit, and we can even have shoes made just for our feet.

So uncomfortable fashion is no longer allowed!  Let's all decide to be beautiful and comfortable from this day forward!  Shop smarter and more carefully and find beautiful things that make you look and feel extraordinary.
