Palermo
Italian Restaurant in Los Angeles, California is a well-known local
favorite for Italian cuisine. Locals know the atmosphere is friendly
casual and cozy, complete with murals of Italy gracing the walls and
candles and white Christmas lights twinkling. Locals also know that the
food is unsurpassed
for freshness, variety, and taste with an old world flair. Palermo's is
famous for their pizza, which has a thin, crispy crust, a rich,
delicious sauce, hot, bubbling cheese, and an array of available
toppings including onions, peppers, mushrooms, meatballs, anchovies,
pepperoni, sausage, olives, and even zucchini. Appetizers include such
gems as fried zucchini,
calamari, or mozzarella, and mushrooms which are broiled with herbs,
garlic and cheese that makes them absolutely irresistible. Portions are
very decent, and will make plenty of leftovers if you so choose.
If
you would rather avoid heavy fried foods and pasta altogether, don't
worry. Palermo's makes great salads packed with flavor and nutrition,
including a Spinach Salad dressed in a lemon oil, a Greek Salad made
with crisp Romaine lettuce, sweet tomatoes, cucumbers, spicy
pepperoncini and red onions, with a sprinkle of tangy feta and a rice
vinegar and olive oil dressing. Even the pasta salad is simple and
amazing; made with rotelli pasta, tomatoes and basil, parmigiana and
mozzarella cheese and a drizzle of rice vinegar and olive oil. If
you're looking for vegetarian dishes,
you can order the lentil soup without meat, Lasagna Marinara, or
Eggplant Parmigiana, which is available with or without the side of
spaghetti. |
Of course Palermo's has no shortage of pasta, and you
can find all of your favorites here: Rigatoni, Penne, Linguini,
Gnocchi, Ravioli, Spaghetti, and Tortellini, with your choice of a meat
filling or spinach and cheese. Yum!
You can even find linguini
with clams, filet of sole, tilapia sauteed in Marsala wine with
caramelized onions and mushrooms, salmon and scampi.
And
speaking of wine...Palermo's is famous for their wine and always ensure
that they have a selection of good, inexpensive wines for every budget.
They even host regular wine tasting classes which are usually held once
a month. After paying one flat fee, you can attend the class where you
will learn about and have the opportunity to sample a wide variety of
wines. Plus, at intermission, you'll have access to a sample buffet of
several items from their regular menu.
Prices are reasonable,
and are generally around $10-$12 dollars for most entrees. During peak
hours, you'll more than likely have to wait a few minutes for a table,
because, as with all good restaurants, patrons line up quickly for a
good thing.
