Terrific Tomato Sauce Back to Recipes
By LifeAdviceSite.com
I simply adore tomato sauce not only because it's delicious and I'm a sucker for pasta, but because I can hide a wealth of nutrition in the sauce to benefit certain family members who don't so much enjoy the vegetables, if you catch my drift... You'll need:
- A crock pot or stove top pot with the burning setting on low
- A large can of tomato sauce (be sure to pick one that only lists tomatoes in the ingredients list)
- Frozen spinach - as much as a cup if you wish
- Freshly grated carrots and/or baby food jars of carrots, sweet potatoes, etc.
- Several small broccoli florets
- Several garlic cloves
- Basil
- Oregano
|
Step 1.
Open the can and pour sauce into pot. |
|
|
Step 2.
Grate
in fresh carrots, garlic and broccoli florets. Also add any baby food
you have selected. Carrots and/or sweet potatoes blends well with the tomato sauce. |
|
|
Step 3.
Cover the top of the sauce with a layer of basil and oregano. Stir to blend.
|
|
|
Step 4.
Leave
the sauce to cook slowly overnight or all day. Add the spinach close
to the end of cooking to preserve more of its nutrients. Put in as
much as you think you can get away with, and you're done! Yum! |
