13. The Law of Forgiveness Return to Self Study Page
By LifeAdviceSite.com

The
law of forgiveness states that we cannot purify ourselves as long as we
harbor negative feelings of hate, anger, intolerance or criticism
toward anything or anyone. The law of forgiveness is in place to make
certain we are constantly freeing ourselves of negative thoughts and
emotions which will interfere with the delivery of our best life.
Many
of us struggle with hurt feelings, disappointment and even anger.
Things don't always go our way from the moment we are born, and
sometimes people we love err and make mistakes with our feelings and
our hearts. Although we may "get over" those events and circumstances
and feel we have moved past them, we often continue to retain the anger
or resentment which formed from that experience. We shut people out,
we close ourselves off and we eliminate any chance for reminder of that
experience in hopes of burying it and moving forward.

It's
true that some people in our lives have not reached a certain level in
their spiritual development and may in fact bring harm by way of
physical danger or damaging energy. In these cases we have no choice
but to remove our lives from their realm of influence.
We also have no choice but to find a way to forgive whatever wrongdoing we have encountered. Forgiveness in not meant to condone any action or behavior committed by the transgressor. Forgiveness is meant only to cleanse the forgiver. If we harbor negative feelings toward anyone, they remain within us like a festering wound. It is a seed of negative energy begetting more negative energy. Our hearts and minds should be like an open cup ready to receive good things. We radiate out positive energy and love to attract and receive more positive, loving energy. Without forgiveness, space in that cup is being taken up by negativity no matter how deeply it is buried. We are inevitably blocking good things in our our own lives when we continue to hold on to negativity in any form.
|
Often it's easy to overlook the most important person we have to forgive - ourselves. We've all made wrong decisions and regretted choices made. To forgive ourselves is the only way to open back up to all the good available to us. Indeed, forgiveness of ourselves is perhaps the most important element of this law given that everything in our life starts within us and emanates outward. Forgive ourselves and we erase negative energy. |
