Key Five: Positive Mind, Awesome Time I just bet you are one of those really awesome smart people who already knows the power of positive thought. Oh yes, I can just sense it!
You know how positive thought gets you through the day and makes wonderful things happen. The Law of Attraction teaches us we will get more of what we think about, so thinking positive thoughts leads to feeling positive. Feeling positive draws in more positive thoughts and so on.
I cannot stress enough how vitally important this is when taking on something like running or any other physical commitment to change your body. You have to get in a good mental place. You have to love and respect the body you have if you're going to make demands on it, and you have to be convinced your body is capable of doing whatever you ask of it. It is. It might take work, it might take time, but it is so very capable. I had no idea what I could accomplish and never dreamed I could make it a whole mile, and now a mile is my absolute minimum on days when it's raining or snowing or I'm simply not feeling well. Positive thinking is what gets me through every run. With each mile, I tell myself I can do it. I remember how far I've come, and I almost scoff when I feel fatigue after a mile or two. I say, "This is nothing! This body is capable of SO much more. Let's keep going." If I didn't have that method of thought, I would surely quit.
I've gone so far as to use an MP3 file to record myself speaking the necessary inner dialogue to encourage my body and my positive attitude. I listen to it as a motivator whenever my playlist isn't doing the job, and it keeps me moving every time.
So
take the time to get inside your head and stay there throughout the
duration of your exercise program. Tell yourself you can do it. Make
that promise to yourself, believe in yourself, and keep that promise!
